Updates on our Window Restoration Project

The Chapel of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church is a point of historical interest in Belmont - the first and oldest church in the city!

Three of our windows, circa 1910, have been sent with Helios Art Glass for restoration work, including re-leading, cleaning, and repair.  They will be re-installed in the fall of 2015, with new sashes and increased support, with the hopes that they will aid in the prayers of the faithful for another century!

We blessed the windows for their journey to the Helios studio in Sunday, July 19th. Check out the blessing (click here).

We are raising funds to complete the project, and welcome donations to defray that cost (read our donation request letter here).  For more information, you can email our vicar at info at goodshepherdbelmont dot org.

August 7th update from Helios:

At this point, all three of the panels have been dismantled and documented. Two of the sashes are being treated by our woodshop, and one of them is being replaced. All of the cracked glass has been treated as well. Two of these are visible in an image on our gluing table. As you can see, they are in far better shape than the red pair adjoining them, which are from St. Paul's Catholic Church in San Francisco. Enclosed also is an image of one of the panels, which has been cleaned and dismantled, and is now ready for re-fabrication. The empty spaces you see represent cracked pieces which are being treated on the gluing table.

August 10th:

The first window is being re leaded and weatherproofed!
